Whether you’re dining out or hosting at home, it can be hard to think of the best breakfast brunch ideas. But luckily for you, our job as a brunch cafe in Sydney is to know what people love to eat for breakfast! So if you’re struggling with ideas of what to serve for brunch, here are our top 3 favourite dishes from our menu!
Smashed Eggs & Avo
Why resist a classic? As a brunch cafe in Sydney, we know how much everyone loves eggs, avo and sourdough in the morning. We serve ours with a twist of Boston baked beans, sour cream and optional mushrooms, bacon or smoked salmon. Of course, if you’re hosting a brunch at home, you can play around as much or as little as you want with this great Aussie breakfast classic. Why not spice it up with some chilli flakes or add some crushed cumin seeds, cashews and lemon juice for a bit of extra crunch?
Don’t be put off by the healthy-sounding name. This vegan-friendly dish is as delicious as it is right for you! Granola doesn’t have to be plain and boring, in fact, it can be served as creatively as you want it to be. We serve ours with seasonal fruit jelly, goji berry, passion fruit, currants, banana coconut mousse, oats, pecan nut, pumpkin seed and almond milk. But of course, you can mix it up however you like it if you’re hosting a brunch at home. And the other great thing about granola is that you can make it ahead of time and keep any leftovers for a quick and easy breakfast during the week.
Lemon Meringue Egg Waffle
This is a weekend indulgence on steroids. Tasty, filling and all-around awesome it thoroughly deserves its place in our top 3. Served with raspberry compote, pistachio, blood orange sorbet and lemon curd, this will blow your socks off. If you’re feeling confident, you can try and replicate this recipe at home, but unless you’re Gary Mehigan, you’re probably best off leaving it to the pros at Haven Specialty Coffee!
